MBA students survey CasperMBA students survey CasperTuesday, July 20, 2010 By Wyoma Groenenberg CASPER — The Downtown Development Authority (DDA), with help from MBA marketing management students, is developing a marketing strategy aimed at strengthening downtown Casper. The idea to use students came from DDA board member Charles Walsh who previously has partnered with Ohio State University and other universities on similar projects. “The leverage gained through the use of MBA students with professional careers, technology access and currency, and academic program structure, combined with inputs from a large percentage of the Casper community, can provide a detail-rich strategy without going to the expense of contracting a consulting firm,” Walsh said. He added that, “the quality and quantity of thought-leadership demonstrated by the MBA teams produces on-target results.” DDA Executive Director Tina Wulf said the organization’s goals for this project are to capture a statistically valid survey response of 15 percent of the community; publish a meaningful, long-range strategic plan for the downtown; to improve the competitive posture of DDA stakeholders (i.e., property owners within the DDA district boundaries), and leverage DDA’s limited marketing dollars. “We need the help of this community for the capstone project to be a success,” said Wulf, who then explained what is needed. She suggested that residents read the July 21 newspaper; complete the neon yellow or green inserted survey and then mail it (DDA, 109 W. 2nd St, Casper, WY 82601) or complete the survey online at http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/962KSJJ; visit the DDA website at www.downtowncasper.com; check out Casper’s DDA Facebook page by becoming a fan, and Wulf said, “because your time matters, everyone completing the survey that provides contact information, will be entered into a drawing.” The deadline for completing the survey is Aug. 2.
